Important Information

Welcome to the fourth grade! Our first full week of school was fun and exciting as we learned all the new routines. On this webpage you will find some rules and policies that will be helpful for you, and your child. Please take a minute to review them with your child. It is important that there is an open line of communication between school and home. I look forward to a fun filled educational year.

Agendas

At the beginning of each day the homework will be posted on the board. It is your child’s responsibility to fill in what the assignments are for that night. Everyday I will check your child’s agenda to see if the homework is recorded correctly. Please initial your child’s agenda each night. Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday.

Homework Policy

Homework will be given almost everyday, except Friday. If a homework assignment seems to be challenging your child immensely, please just write a note and I will work on it with them the following day. Homework should take no longer than 40 minutes each night.

Snacks and Birthdays Students should bring a healthy snack to school each day that is separate from their lunch. Students may bring in a water bottle or juice to drink. (Please no soda) Water bottles are allowed during class as long as they are not a distraction. Students may also opt to buy milk on a daily basis.

* Food is no longer allowed to be brought in for birthdays or parties. Students also are not allowed to share snacks in the classroom or lunchroom.

  Daily Specials

Monday           Computers

Tuesday           Art

Wednesday     Library

Thursday         Music

Friday                Gym

Please post this schedule in a visible area at home. Students should wear tie or Velcro sneakers on Tuesday for Physical Education. Please remember to bring in library books on Wednesday.

Forms: Throughout the year I will be sending home book order forms. You do not have to purchase books. If you choose to, please send in the forms within seven days so that the order can be sent. I will give reminders in the agendas.

CORI forms and fingerprinting needs to be completed in order for you to be considered to volunteer in the classroom or to chaperone any field trips. Please be sure to complete this form in the beginning of the year if you are interested.

Home-School Connection   News and updates regarding class work and school events will be sent home in your child’s take home folder. Please check this folder nightly. Parents should also be on the lookout for the “Family Letter” from our EnVisions Math Program. Please check out my website for a weekly update and nightly homework assignments http://mrmonty.weebly.com/. I am available before and after school for any additional questions or concerns that might arise. You many call the school and leave a message at any time. I will return your call after the school day has ended, or as early as possible. I can also be reached via email at j_monty@stoughtonschools.org.
